The NHL players will play Fortnite in groups of three

More than 60 players are set to compete in the tournament, called the NHLPA Open, which will take place on Monday from 2-5 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on Twitch. It is being organized by Colorado Avalanche forward J.T. Compher and Toronto Maple Leafs forward Zach Hyman.

The NHL players will play Fortnite in groups of three, and the $200,000 prize pool will be donated to charities chosen by the participants.

Compher will take part with his Avalanche teammates Nathan MacKinnon and Matt Nieto, and Hyman will be a color commentator.

“Players across the league are passionate Fortnite players. While we cannot compete on the ice right now, it is important to the guys that we give back in a meaningful way,” Compher said. “We are excited to showcase our competitive skills online to an ever-growing audience, and I can’t wait to watch our event unfold.”

Other players expected to participate include Sebastian Aho, Thomas Chabot, Travis Konecny, Mitch Marner and Bryan Rust.

“When J.T. approached me about creating the NHLPA Open featuring Fortnite, I was on board right away because I knew teammates and friends fortnite v bucks generator around the league who would be thrilled to be a part of this,” said Hyman, who played college hockey at Michigan with Compher. “Many players have participated in a number of outstanding gaming events, and J.T. and I knew players would jump at the chance to come together with such a large group of players like this to unite and compete for charity in a unique way.”

So we can expect Fortnite to continue being a showcase for what Epic can do

“Epic will release Fortnite, built with UE4, on next-gen consoles at launch and, in keeping with the team’s commitment to prove out industry-leading features through internal production, migrate the game to UE5 in mid-2021,” the company said in a blog post published today. Epic says all progress and purchases will carry over, and it will support cross-play across generations and will “continue support for existing platforms in tandem with our support for next-generation consoles.”

It’s no surprise Fortnite, which has more than 350 million registered players and is one of the biggest and most lucrative games on the planet, is coming to next-gen hardware. Both Microsoft and Sony have pledged to support nearly the entirety of their respective Xbox One and PS4 libraries through backwards compatibility thanks to the architecture of new consoles enabling them to play older software, which wasn’t possible with past generations. That means most games will work on the new consoles, even if developers do nothing.‘FORTNITE’ WILL MIGRATE TO EPIC’S NEW UNREAL ENGINE 5 IN 2021

Epic says it’s not just porting Fortnite over to the new hardware for launch, but it’s also planning fortnite generator account to optimize it so it runs best on the new consoles in time for the launch of UE5 in 2021. That means this fall, we might see Fortnite take advantage of some of the system-level changes the consoles provide, like faster load times. Epic isn’t quite saying what the launch version of Fortnite on PS5 and Xbox Series X will entail.

But next year, Epic says Fortnite will definitely be able to tap into the full scale of hardware and software benefits the consoles provide, including the data storage and management benefits the new M.2 solid-state drives will support and the graphical and performance benefits the new CPU and GPUs will enable.

Epic isn’t yet disclosing what to expect next year in terms of higher frame rates on consoles or new graphics benchmarks to look forward to. But the company prides itself on making Fortnite work across as many platforms and devices as possible and to look as good as it can on whatever hardware it’s running on, as that type of scalability and compatibility is now a key feature and selling point of the Unreal Engine.

“No, this is not a new version of Fortnite. It’s Fortnite optimized to take advantage of the new hardware and features on next-gen consoles,” the company explained. “How will Fortnite take advantage of next-gen console hardware? While we can’t share specifics at the moment, more powerful hardware will allow us to improve performance and visuals.”

So we can expect Fortnite to continue being a showcase for what Epic can do. And not just in the graphics department, but in all the technology — from cross-platform matchmaking to huge-scale live events — that runs under the hood and makes the game a pretty impressive showcase for Epic’s broader products.

What events are planned for the new mode?

Fortnite nears its third year on the market, Epic Games is doing everything it can to pump new life into the popular battle royale title. The massive — and incredibly successful — Travis Scott concert was only the tip of the iceberg, as Fortnite recently introduced a new mode to its already robust offerings. It revolves around listening to music, hanging out with friends, and partaking in some low-stakes competition. The mode is called Party Royale, and it’s unlike anything we’ve seen in the entire genre — let alone Fortnite.

What exactly is Party Royale?

Epic Games’ latest addition to Fortnite v buck generator is an odd mixture of different activities. The fun started on May 8 with a concert featuring Dillon Francis, Steve Aoki, and deadmau5. Players who jumped into the action will have immediately noticed that the concerts took place on a completely new island. Party Royale gives all these players free rein to explore to their heart’s content, all without the threat of a shrinking circle or enemy players.

That’s right — there’s no dying, or even health bars, in Fortnite: Party Royale. Instead of blasting each other to pieces, Party Royale participants just chill out, listen to some music, and join in on various activities scattered around the island. It’s very much a social experiment and not so much a game. If you recall PlayStation Home from way back in 2012, that’s the sort of vibe given out by Party Royale.

What events are planned for the new mode?

As of now, there are no future events planned for the space. On May 9, however, there was a rebroadcast of the live premiere concert. We’re sure something big is in the pipeline, but Epic Games is being tightlipped about where it plans on taking the new space. Although with a name like Party Royale, it’s only a matter of time before Fortnite hosts another concert.

Explore a new island

Right now, one of the coolest aspects of Party Royale is the new island players can explore. Whether you’re jamming out to music pumping from the fortnite generator futuristic concert hall or cruising around a racetrack, there’s a lot for gamers to unpack. The map isn’t nearly as large as the Battle Royale island, but for what it is it’s well designed.

And while the island doesn’t have lethal weapons, players can still pick up a few items from vending machines scattered across the different landmarks. These include paintball guns, paint bombs, and crash pads. They’re fun to mess around with, and if you gather a bunch of friends you can even hold an impromptu paintball match. It’s also the perfect space to show off all the skins you’ve acquired over the years, as you can change your appearance on the fly using several booths located throughout the map.

For complete newcomers to the world of Fortnite, Party Royale offers them a risk-free environment to become acquainted with some of the game’s primary mechanics. While they won’t get to build anything, they can still work on their aiming skills, learn how to drive vehicles, and hone their parachuting abilities.

Take part in unique activities

If you’re looking for something a bit more structured, Party Royale already offers a surprising number of activities for players to enjoy. There are five types of challenges scattered across the island, and although many of them are similar, they still give players a relaxing break from the battle royale action. These include:

This week Rockstar is adding double rewards to GTA Online for Biker Sell Missions, Clubhouse Contracts and Transform Races. Players who embrace their inner Biker can earn massive rewards on Biker related activities through to May 13.

Fortnite’s new non-violent Party Royale mode held its first big event

Fortnite’s new non-violent Party Royale mode held its first big event, a concert of three different EDM musicians. It was more modest than in-game events we’ve seen recently, but, like so many Fortnite events I feel too old for, its exuberant charm won me over.

Dillon Francis, Steve Aoki, and Deadmau5 played short sets at the Party Royale island’s Main Stage, a jagged floating screen set over panels on a beach. There were some technical glitches—some musicians’ mics didn’t work right away, and my sound cut in and out periodically—but overall the event worked like you’d expect: a mess of Fortnite players in weird costumes, dancing and bouncing and trying to pet my dog.

I’ve never really heard of any of the performers—as I said in my Marshmello writeup last year, I’m still surprised EDM performers in weird masks aren’t a Good Place joke. But Fortnite’s introduced me to lots of new things, in this case some pretty chill music I wouldn’t have checked out otherwise. My colleague Ari, a Fortnite noob who partied up free v bucks codes with me, told me over Slack that “Deadmau5 is genuinely top five for me.” The musicians appeared on the screen in front of their turntables, occasionally encouraging players to emote or use Party Royale’s paint launchers and crash pads. Dillon Francis shouted out streamers Tfue and Dr. Lupo. Ari told me of Deadmau5’s set, “If the audio were perfect, I’d be losing my shit” and told me he imagined it was like a sold-out concert in Brooklyn he hadn’t been able to attend. At one point Deadmau5 showed his face, which he apparently doesn’t do often, and played what Ari said were his greatest hits. (Ari also DMed me “Riley this fucking drooooop omg” at a moment that I guess was a good EDM moment, so there’s that for you.)

On the technical level, the Party Royale mode didn’t rival the scale of the recent Travis Scott event, which included massive holograms and jumping between dimensions. At the Main Stage, large holograms danced and the panels that made up the landscape changed to reflect the video on the screen. At times, colored rain fell from the sky, or ribbons of light drifted by. It felt more like the size of the Marshmello concert; rather than taking the world over, the concert fit nicely inside it. It wasn’t as much sensory overload as Travis Scott, or as dramatic as last year’s Star Wars premiere, but it really felt like being at a concert, a feeling a lot of us are probably missing these days.

Party Royale’s limitations on building meant there weren’t sky-high platforms to watch from, but there also weren’t builds in the way of the action. The smaller server size meant less players than previous events, which made the concert feel less grand but also more intimate. The whole thing just made sense in Party Royale. Events like this seem to clearly be one of the things the mode is for, and the smaller scale and the way the event took place in a part of the map specifically designed for concerts made it feel less like Epic saying “Look what we can do” with its metaverse ambitions and more just like a thing that would happen in a place you’re hanging out in. Even though I wasn’t familiar with the music, I had a good time. The show made Fortnite feel like a world, which, while stuck inside these days, it pretty much is. Ari said, “It’s really cool seeing all of these other people, or avatars rather, and knowing that they’re all probably thinking the same thing right now: that this is an awesome event, but I wish I were there in person, and I can’t wait to party IRL.” He added, however, “This event, in its own small sad way, has made me feel slightly less alone.”

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 still has a month left

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 still has a month left, but Epic are already teasing the next season. We saw some promotional photos for Season 3 revealed that make the theme clear: water is going to play a larger role.

When you combine that with the recent leaks about Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3, it’s all but confirmed that a massive flood will hit the island.Advertisement

Recently, players began to notice the in-game foreshadowing of a flood. Puddles have begun to appear all across the map. They’re small, right now, but will likely grow larger as the season draws to a close.

🇮🇹 In giro per la mappa stanno apparendo alcune pozzanghere!

🇬🇧 Around the map some puddles are appearing!
#Fortnite— _Fortnite_News_Leaks_ (@FortBRNewsLeaks) May 5, 2020

You may have even passed these areas – or ones like them – without noticing. We may not have been able to catch free v bucks generator onto these teasers without the leaks giving us context, but it seems pretty clear that the flood is starting to happen.Advertisement

We still have a ton of questions about how the map floods and what Season 3 will look like. Will the Doomsday Device trigger the flood? Will it happen overnight or over time? All of this remains to be seen.

So far, all of the leaks have proven to be true in one way or another. If the rest of the information is accurate, then we can expect an Aquaman skin and elemental fire damage in Season 3 – among other things.

We’ll have all of our questions answered on June 4, the scheduled beginning of Season 3. Until then, we can only keep our eyes peeled and speculate.

This appearance on Ellen is a real moment for Fortnite

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins is the most visible figure in the esports industry, and that was on full display during Ninja’s appearance on popular talk show Ellen.

The Fortnite player swung by the show to chat with host and comedian Ellen Degeneres about the popular game, streaming, and life. The segment was watched by tens of millions at home, and has drawn millions of more views on YouTube.

There weren’t any major revelations to be had for fans of the Luminosity star outside some casual estimates about how much money he makes while streaming, but this was the latest demonstration of just how large a public figure Ninjas has become.

Just a few weeks ago, Ninja became the first gamer to grace the cover of fortnite v bucks generator ESPN the Magazine, an issue which highlighted the sometimes overlooked esports industry. Alongside that, he received star treatment on television with ESPN, sitting down with Ariel Helwani to discuss his work at length in an E:60 feature.

This goes alongside his massive existing followings on multiple social media platforms, including Twitch, YouTube, and Twitter.

This appearance on Ellen is a real moment for Fortnite, Ninja, and for esports as a whole. Shining a light on streaming and competitive gaming on a massive television platform that doesn’t typically acknowledge the industry is testament to Ninja’s perceived drawing power.

Fortnite welcomed the skins to the battle royale game with a new trailer

Fortnite players can now dress up as three different characters from Marvel’s X-Force team now that skins for Cable, Psylocke, and Domino are now in the battle royale game. Epic Games released the latest Marvel bundle of skins into the Item Shop this week which gives players each of the three skins as well as some other cosmetics to take into battle at a notable discount compared to the price of buying them all individually. You can of course still pick up the skins by themselves if you want, skins that’ll compliment the new Deadpool cosmetics quite well that were released during the current Fortnite season.

The new skins for Cable, Psylocke, and Domino were leaked not long ago, so those who’ve been keeping up with the datamines and leaks showing what’s to come in Fortnite won’t be too surprised to see them added. They’re in the game for real now though which means players can customize their characters with the new skins and the extra cosmetics like Backblings if they purchase everything separately or together.

Fortnite v bucks generator welcomed the skins to the battle royale game with a new trailer as they appeared in the Item Shop. It looks like the skins are each available for 1,500 V-Bucks each, but if you’re so inclined, you can get them from the X-Force Outfits Bundle that includes all the skins and three Backblings for 3,000 V-Bucks.

Powered by a shrouded past, a twisted future, and a whole lot of luck.

We’ve called in Psylocke, Cable, and Domino to show you how it’s done 😎 Get the X-Force Bundle in-game now!— Fortnite (@FortniteGame) April 17, 2020

These new skins join the growing collection of Marvel cosmetics already in Fortnite including the Deadpool skin which was added as part of this season’s Battle Pass. Players could unlock that skin through completing a variety of challenges and could even get an unmasked variant of it that followed Fortnite’s latest trend of releasing alternate styles for existing skins. If you want something kind of like Deadpool but still with a Fortnite twist, Epic Games also released some new skins that put a Deadpool spin on classic cosmetics.

The listing for the X-Force Outfits Bundle says that it’s a limited-time offer, so if you’re planning on picking up all the skins the set contains, you may want to get it sooner rather than later before it’s gone.

We have arrived at Midas challenges at last in Fortnite Chapter 2

We have arrived at Midas challenges at last in Fortnite Chapter 2, season 2 here in week 9, and many of them are gold or legendary themed, including this one. We are being asked to search Midas’ golden llama between a junk yard, gas station and an RV campsite to complete one of the challenges this week, and I’m here to show you where exactly that is.

This is not a typical llama that you loot things from. This is something else entirely, a golden llama head mounted on a wall that you can see above.

Go here to see where to carry a giant teddy bear at Risky Reels. Go here to see all of week 9 challenges.

Given that junk yards and gas stations and RV campsites are relatively generic sounding places, you may not know where this is. But here’s a map of exactly where you’re going:

Fortnite EPIC

This is not outdoors, there’s actually a tiny, non-descript building that houses the golden llama near a bridge that’s between Frenzy Farm and Dirty Docks. It looks like this:Today In: Games

Fortnite EPIC

Once you land there, simply head inside and the llama head will be on the wall once this challenge is live. It’s not showing in my screenshot below because I took it before launch, but that’s where it will be.

Fortnite EPIC

This is probably going to be one of the easier challenges to complete on the list once you actually know where the golden llama is, given all you have to do is land there and search it. You don’t even have to figure out where the junk yard or gas station are if you don’t want to, hence this guide.

After that, you will be one step closer to fortnite v bucks generator challenges that will make Midas commit to either GHOST or SHADOW. Currently he runs the Agency which is covered in GHOST banners, but I have a hunch that SHADOW is going to take over by the time this season is over, as that has been the trend lately. I think we have seen all four other characters go to SHADOW in the end, and I would not expect anything different from Midas as we reach our last two weeks of challenges here.

These purchases are strictly decorative, and do not offer any advantage in game.

There are four types of items in the shop:

  • Skins that change the appearance of free v bucks generator character you control.
  • Gliders that change the appearance of the parachute you use to descend onto the island,
  • Harvesting equipment that changes the appearance of the pickaxe your character uses to destroy objects on the map and collect resources.
  • Emotes are animations that your character can perform on command.
  • Animations can consist of a simple wave, acrobatics or dances.
  • Each animation has its own sound effects, and almost all the dances are accompanied by a melody of their own.

The shop is divided into two parts: the Featured Items section, which contains items that are generally more rare, more expensive and typically remain available in the shop for forty-eight hours.

The second is Daily Items. and always contains two skins, two emotes, a glider and a pickaxe. Items in this category are less rare and less expensive, and only remain available in the shop for 24 hours.
